About Me: Part 3- Que the Birth of Prairie and Pencil!
After a rough couple years teaching and finally being in my SAHM era, I was trying to find ways to teach my toddler. and I realized I missed teaching. I wanted to look for a combination of teaching and being home with my children. I had all the resources and tools needed to teach my children myself. But as I started creating, I realized I also missed another thing: a teaching community. I missed my teammate across the hall who was there to bounce ideas off of, answer my question, and also ask me questions. One to share my thoughts and ideas with and she to share hers.
Homeschooling can be lonely. Yes, you can have co-ops, but sometimes those are only once a week. You can try to fill your time with mom groups or whatever else, but that is time-consuming and as a mom, we don’t have much time. So I wanted to think of an idea where a homeschool mom could meet with another mom/teacher, and bounce ideas off of each other that didn't require you to pack up and go somewhere. A Virtual Teacher Bestie if you will!
I have high hopes for what Prairie and Pencil can be. Right now it is in the baby stages of what I hope it can be. I love creating resources and wanted to share them. I want to provide resources for homeschool parents that are made by a qualified teacher who studied curriculum and instruction that will give parents a peace of mind, knowing that it was created with intention and with current research knowledge. Something affordable and beneficial for your students. I hope you stick around to see what Prairie and Pencil comes to be!
